Message from Our Presidentessa – Benvenuti a Tutti!

Welcome everyone! I’d love to start by sharing a little about myself.

I was born and raised in the beautiful town of Nelson, BC. My roots, however, run deep into the mountains of Northern Italy. Both of my parents immigrated from the Province of Belluno in the early 1950s. My father, Augusto Maddalozzo, was the first to arrive—born in Arsiè, he made the journey to Canada with the support of his aunt, who was already living in Nelson. Two years later, he sent for his sweetheart, Natalina, who left her village of Mellame to join him—and together, they built a life, a home, and a family in this small Canadian town.
They brought with them everything that defines Italian culture: a deep respect for hard work, a love of good food and wine, strong family values, and a vibrant sense of community. These were the gifts they passed on to their two children—my brother Gianni and me.

Though my parents are no longer with us, their legacy lives on in everything I do. My passion for our heritage is stronger than ever, especially when it comes to food, tradition, and caring for others.
That’s why being part of Sorelle Colombo means so much to me—and why I’m honoured to once again serve as your Presidentessa. I truly believe in the mission of our Society: preserving and celebrating our culture, supporting one another, and leaving a meaningful legacy for future generations. What makes it all the more special is doing this work alongside such an incredible group of women—many of whom have become dear and lifelong friends.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Carmen Davis (Maddalozzo)
Presidentessa, Sorelle Colombo
