Presidentessa of the Sisters of Colombo

The Presidentessa is the elected leader of the Sisters of Colombo and plays a central role in preserving the history, culture, traditions, and values of our organization. While every member of the Executive contributes to the success of the Lodge, the Presidentessa carries the overall responsibility for providing leadership, guidance, and support throughout her term.
The Presidentessa begins her year by addressing the membership at the January Installation Meeting, setting the tone for the year ahead and welcoming members to another year of friendship, service, and community.
Working closely with the Executive, the Presidentessa oversees the planning and coordination of meetings, social activities, celebrations, and charitable initiatives. She ensures that the laws and statutes of the Sisters of Colombo Constitution are upheld and provides guidance and assistance to Executive members as needed. She also prepares the annual calendar of activities, coordinates scheduling with the Men’s Lodge, and keeps members informed through calendars, newsletters, and regular communication.
The Presidentessa presides over all Sisters of Colombo meetings and works collaboratively with the Executive to ensure that Lodge activities are organized and successful. She participates in and supports functions throughout the year, bringing greetings and comments from the Sorelle when representing the Sisters of Colombo at Lodge events and other special occasions.
An important part of the Presidentessa’s role is maintaining a strong and respectful relationship with the Men’s Lodge. Through cooperation and communication, she helps foster the spirit of partnership that is an important part of our shared Lodge community.
The Presidentessa also has signing authority, together with the Secretary and Treasurer, for the financial transactions of the Sisters of Colombo. She is entrusted with the care of the Lodge keys and takes responsibility for ensuring they are properly managed.
Throughout her term, the Presidentessa helps celebrate and recognize the people who make the Sisters of Colombo special. She acknowledges significant milestones, including 40-year memberships and 100th birthdays, and remembers and honours members who have passed away. She also participates in the installation of new members and carries the responsibility of selecting the passwords used for Lodge meetings.
Above all, the Presidentessa leads with friendship, respect, dedication, and a commitment to the Sorelle. Her role is not simply to preside, but to encourage participation, support her Executive, strengthen relationships among members, and help ensure that the traditions and legacy of the Sisters of Colombo continue for generations to come.
The position of Presidentessa is traditionally held for a minimum of two years. At the conclusion of her service, the Presidentessa is honoured with a commemorative ring in recognition of her dedication and leadership.
Being Presidentessa is both an honour and a responsibility—a position that celebrates our past, strengthens our present, and helps shape the future of the Sisters of Colombo.

Present Presidentessa Carmen Davis 2025 - 2027 Major administrative work included updating the Kitchen Policy Book and Sorelle Manual, alongside collaborating on the SOC website. Philanthropic efforts were significantly expanded, featuring an increased scholarship donation, supporting community programs, securing $10,000 for kitchen upgrades, and contributing to local shelters and food banks. Engagement was boosted through new meeting concepts like: a Toast to the New Year, additional Supper Meetings, Aperetivo Hour, and a Cookie Exchange. Additionally, physical enhancements were spearheaded—including table cloth purchases, storage facility renovation approvals, elevator logo —while initiating planning for the Lodge’s 100th anniversary celebration in 2027.
