A Celebration Rooted in Tradition​
Since its debut in 1964, Silver City Days (SCD) has become one of Trail’s most anticipated annual celebrations, honouring the city’s unique heritage, culture, and proud “Silver City” identity. What began as a community festival has grown into one of the Kootenays’ premier events, bringing residents and visitors together to celebrate the people, traditions, and vibrant spirit that make Trail such a special place.
The Colombo Lodge has proudly been part of that tradition for many years. During Silver City Days, the Fratelli and Sorelle come together to share their Italian heritage with the wider community through a variety of activities that celebrate family, food, friendship, and fun.
A favourite tradition is the family-friendly Spaghettata, held at the Colombo Lodge Hall. Guests gather to enjoy a hearty Italian-inspired meal featuring pasta, chicken, and potatoes, while enjoying the welcoming atmosphere that has long been a hallmark of the Lodge.
The Sorelle also bring a taste of Italy to the Sidewalk Café, where their popular gelato booth offers a refreshing treat for festival-goers. From parade floats to community activities, the Colombo Lodge’s presence throughout Silver City Days reflects its commitment to keeping Italian traditions alive while sharing them with the entire community.
The Fratelli add their own special touch with a highly popular Bocce Tournament, held at the Curling Rink. The tournament brings together players and spectators for friendly competition, laughter, and camaraderie—an ideal expression of the Italian love of bocce and community fellowship.
Through these activities, the Colombo Lodge continues to play an important role in Silver City Days, celebrating its Italian roots while helping make the festival a welcoming experience for everyone. It is a tradition built on generations of participation, shared with pride and carried forward through food, sport, family, and friendship.
