The Sisters of Colombo are always on the go, spreading cheer throughout the community! From hosting coffee parties at Columbia View Lodge to handing out snacks to kids at the after-school Sanctuary program, there's never a dull moment. We raise funds with lively raffle ticket sales at our meetings, and every penny goes back into supporting local causes in the Trail community and surrounding areas. We also love visiting our senior members in care homes or those who just need a little extra company. Giving back has never been this joyful!
Columbia View Coffee Parties: The third Wednesday of each month, excluding July and August, two to three Sorelle volunteers bring baking and serve refreshments at Columbia View Lodge. This program is presently being organized by Wendy Mcintrye. If you are interested and available to help please contact her at: [email protected]
Carolyn Caron with long time member Maria Perri
Wendy McIntyre - organizer of the CVL visits.
Donations: A separate account is kept for Charity Raffle Monies. Traditionally this money is used to aid local organizations that benefit women and children and for local food banks. The executive periodically reviews possible beneficiaries, then brings recommendations to the general membership for approval. Suggestions and ideas for beneficiaries are always welcome!
June 2025 - $500 to the Diverse Family Roots Society. Parent/family-driven support network for families with children or family members with diverse abilities/disabilities that is based in the Kootenays. Ben Postmus, Founder and Executive Director, met with Allana, Wendy and myself at CVL when we were there for the Coffee Party. He thanked us and a photo was taken to be published in the paper and on Social Media. He was very grateful for our donation and shared that the money would be put to good use. They have some exciting projects coming up, one of which is an event to be held in August from the 23-25 in Riondel. This is a weekend for families with diverse needs. There will be events, entertainment, food, activities and support on site.
